What the connection does
Mews holds your rooms, which it calls resources, and your reservations. Turndown reads both, with guest names, so the housekeeping board shows who is arriving, leaving and staying without anyone copying the list across. The manager's Today screen uses the same data to flag rooms that will not be ready for an arriving guest, and arrivals booked into a room that is blocked by a repair.
Going the other way, Turndown can send room state back to Mews. When an attendant marks a room clean, or a supervisor marks it inspected, Mews can show the same state, so the front desk sees housekeeping's progress in the system they already use.
What syncs in each direction
| Direction | What moves |
|---|---|
| Mews to Turndown | Rooms (resources). Reservations with guest names. |
| Turndown to Mews | Room state: dirty, clean and inspected. |
| Stays in Turndown | Work orders, guest requests, logbook notes, asset records and the cleaning-in-progress status. |
The room board shows when the last sync ran, so everyone can see whether the list is current.
Maintenance that knows who is in the room
The AC in an empty room and the AC in a room with a family arriving at 2 PM are different jobs. With your reservations from Mews, Turndown can tell them apart. The Today screen shows arrivals booked into a room with an open repair while there is still time to act, and a room with an open repair is held out of order until the job closes.
Guest requests from the QR code in each room land in the same queue as repairs, routines and preventive work. Each job has a priority, a target time and an owner. More about work orders.
What you need to provide
- API access from your Mews accountConnecting needs API access from the hotel's Mews account. We'll confirm what your Mews account needs during setup and tell you exactly what to arrange.
- Your equipment list and open issuesThese do not come from Mews. Send us whatever you have, a spreadsheet is fine, and we import it with the rest of your setup.
Setup is done by us
You do not configure the connection yourself. During onboarding we connect your Mews account, run the first sync and go through the room board with you to check it matches what you see in Mews. Then your team starts using it. There is no separate fee for the connection: it is part of the plan at $299 per property per month. See what's included.
Turndown is independent software. It connects to Mews through the access your account provides.
Tips for running housekeeping with Mews
- Decide who marks rooms in which system. If attendants and supervisors work in Turndown, ask the front desk not to change housekeeping states by hand in Mews except in an emergency. One place to change it means one answer to "is 312 ready".
- Block repair rooms in Mews too. Turndown holds a room out of order while a repair is open. If the room has to come off sale for days, block it in Mews so it is not sold online in the meantime.
- Glance at the sync time each morning. The day's housekeeping plan is only as good as the arrivals behind it. If the last sync looks old, check before the attendants start.
- Use the same room names everywhere. Pick the name the guest sees and use it on the QR cards, the asset tags and the work orders, so "Villa 3" is never also "V03".
